Liability Insurance for your group is becoming an increasingly expensive and tricky part of running a re-enactment society. Many people have expressed their concerns about the costs. Or they belong to a co-operative scheme, but are concerned about how it’s run, illegal reselling of insurance or the policy details.
This is why the EMA arranged a scheme which is available to all it's member groups. We know that the majority of the cost of insurance is in the administration fees, so by banding together we can get more competitive insurance.
Moreover, by working with John Hughes of The Insurance Partnership, we've insured that the insurance you pay for is more representative of the insurance you need, for the activities you do; as a specialist broker, John Hughes is able to divide up the cost of the policy so that it relates to the information on the proposal form you submit. This is also means that, unlike some other schemes, we might also be able to cover any specialist activities you want to do.
This scheme has now been running for two years and last year had 10 members.
This year it will be open again to any groups who are members of E.M.A.
If your group isn't in the E.M.A., you might be asking yourself: why not?
The E.M.A. is open to all medieval groups, and to find out more, go and have a look round the the website [http://www.TheEMA.co.uk].
For a proposal form [and information about joining the EMA, if you’re not already a member], contact me, as soon as possible, at Fox@TheEMA.co.uk
Our renewal date is for 2nd April, which is time for this year's Easter shows, but it also means you don't have much time if you want to take advantage of this scheme.
